Disclaimer
This page is the complete statement of what waterdamagequotesca.com is, how it is paid, and what it is not. Everything here is also true of every other page on the site.
What this site is
waterdamagequotesca.com is an independent publisher. It writes about water damage in Canadian homes, about what home insurance policies cover, and about municipal flood-protection programmes. It sells advertising to restoration, remediation and plumbing companies.
What this site is not
- It is not a restoration, remediation or plumbing company, and it does not carry out drying, extraction, demolition, remediation or repair work of any kind.
- It holds no trade certification, licence or registration in any province or territory.
- It is not an insurer, broker, agent or adjuster. It does not sell, bind, alter or renew cover, and it does not assess, adjust, advance or settle claims.
- It does not give insurance, legal, engineering or medical advice.
- It is not a referral service and does not match, rank, rate, score, vet, approve or recommend any company. It does not review enquiries before passing them on.
How this site is paid
Restoration and plumbing companies pay a fixed advertising fee for each enquiry. That fee is agreed in advance and it does not vary with:
- the size, scope or value of any work that follows;
- whether any work is booked at all;
- whether an insurance claim is made, approved or paid;
- which company receives the enquiry.
Nothing is charged to the person sending the enquiry, at any point. The fee does not come out of a settlement, an invoice or a quote, and it is not contingent on any outcome.
Because the fee is fixed and outcome-independent, this site has no financial reason to prefer one company over another, and it does not.
What happens to an enquiry
An enquiry sent through a form on this site is disclosed to no more than three restoration or plumbing companies that advertise for the area indicated. Those companies receive the answers given on the form, including the contact details, and may contact the sender by telephone, text message or email about the damage described. Each of them holds and uses those details under its own privacy policy.
This site does not review, verify, score or screen either the enquiries or the companies. Consent to be contacted can be withdrawn at any time, by replying STOP to a text message, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or writing to the address below. Any commercial electronic message sent must identify its sender and provide an unsubscribe mechanism.
About the figures on this site
Every figure published here carries the document it was read from and the date it was read. Municipal subsidy amounts, insurance coverage descriptions, standards definitions and public health thresholds change, sometimes without notice; the date on the page is the date the source was checked and is not a guarantee that the source has not changed since.
Where a price band is reproduced from a company's own published list, that company is named in the same breath. Those bands are that company's prices and not an average, a survey or an estimate by this site. This site does not publish a national average restoration cost, insurance premiums, deductibles, endorsement prices, or any figure describing what an enquiry is worth, because none of those have been measured. What else we left blank, and why.
Nothing here is advice about your situation
Everything on this site is general information about Canadian water damage, insurance products and municipal programmes. It is not advice about any particular home, policy, claim or loss. Insurance wordings differ between insurers and between policies; municipal programme terms differ by municipality and change; building and safety questions depend on the specific building. Your insurer, your broker, your municipality and a qualified trade are the people who can answer your case, and none of them is this site.
Where a page describes what to do during a loss, it describes what published sources say and it does not assess whether any of it is safe in your circumstances. Water near electrical equipment, structural damage, contaminated water and roof work in winter are all situations where a qualified professional should be the one deciding.
Contact
Written questions about this site, its sources or a correction: contact@waterdamagequotesca.com.
We answer questions about the site and its sources, and we correct errors. We cannot advise on a policy, a claim or a loss, and we do not take service requests — the enquiry form is the only route to a company that does the work.
Personal information
The only personal information this site collects is what is entered into an enquiry form. It is used to pass the enquiry to the companies described above and for no other purpose. A request to know what has been held, or to have it deleted, can be sent to the address above.
